#MeToo: When the Silence is Broken
Sexual harassment as been around since the beginning of time. The hashtag #MeToo is used on social media to help show how widespread sexual harassment and assault. Not only is it happening outside, it also happened in the workplace. This hashtag that was first used by social activist Tarana Burke but became popular when actress Alyssa Milano tweeted about it, was used to help survivors realize that they are not alone and it gets better. The purpose was to help women and men get the power and courage to stand up and feel good about themselves. As this began to take off, one singer made a huge impact to the movement. Kesha was a victim of sexual, physical, verbal, and emotionally abused. The person who caused this pain was her manager Dr. Luke.
